Welcome to the Michigan State University Racing Club

Those of us in the MSU Racing Club pride ourselves on the diversity that can be found in our club. Between all of our members we have our hands in just about every niche of the automotive world. We have members with show cars that see less than 100 miles a year, and others who aren’t afraid to drive two or more hours in their daily driver, race it all day long, then drive home. We’ve got autocross-prepped Miatas, and old-school drag racing Camaros, and just about everything in between.

Everyone is welcome to join the club, whether you have a car or not, or whether you’re an MSU alum, LCC student, or just live in the Lansing area and like cars. However, if you wish to become a club official, you must be currently enrolled in MSU, or an MSU grad.

Racing Club members are active both on and off campus. We meet once a week for what we like to call “the 4-1,” as it takes place in lot 41 on campus, just West of the planetarium. Check the forums or Facebook group for the current location though, as depending on weather and the time of year, we change places to stay warm and dry. Every year we have a booth set up at Party @ the Aud (or as it’s called now “Sparticipation”), where we put up a tent, our banner, and park a couple of our cars there and give them a nice loud rev every once and a while. We also take part in the annual Homecoming parade, where in past years we’ve had anywhere between 2 and 4 cars participating in, and destroying their clutches for the sake of publicity. We also like to stay in close contact with the MSU and East Lansing PD in order to build a positive reputation, and distinguish ourselves from other local groups who might chose to participate in various unlawful activities.

You can find MSURC members racing all over the state. We’ve done test and tune track days at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, road racing at Grattan in Belding, drag racing at Mid-Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, even Winged Warrior’s domestic vs. import drag/autocross/car show in Indianapolis. Some of us even made the eight hour drive up to the UP for the Lake Superior Performance Rally to watch Travis Pastrana and Ken Block pilot their Subarus to victory. In past years, we’ve even coordinated with the Western Michigan Region and Saginaw Valley Region of the SCCA to plan and execute autocrosses on the MSU campus, and we plan to continue doing so. Check our Facebook group and our forums for updates on upcoming MSURC events!
